Heroes, Chapter 13 - The Fix (Episode Guide)

Hiro tries to stop time so that he and Ando can escape a parking fine, but fails. He feels that the samurai sword is the key to his powers and will help him focus them. On the way to pick up the car, he and Ando discover they are being chased by men in a van.

They hide under a car, but it is driven off, exposing them to the men. As they run away, Ando gets caught and Hiro is forced to return. They’re bundled into the van - Ando says “You came back for me”, to which Hiro replies “That’s how we roll!”

Hiro tells his captors to tell their boss he is on an important mission. The man says he knows all about Hiro’s mission and then speaks to them in fluent Japanese. He offers them flights home, but Hiro says he cannot be bribed.

Nathan Petrelli visits Mohinder Suresh at his apartment - he’s looking for Peter. Mohinder says that he doesn’t know where Peter is, but he’s looking for him. He explains about his father’s research and that he knows Nathan has powers. He describes Peter’s powers as “like a sponge”, but says that he can’t ‘treat’ Peter’s power without examining him.

Peter follows Claude up to the roof of Deveaux’s building, noting the co-incidence that he chooses to come to the place where Peter has worked. Peter asks Claude to teach him how to use his powers, but Claude becomes aggressive and leaves, warning him not to try to find him again.

Claire Bennett and Zach are at her house delving into her father’s computer for information about her biological parents. Noah comes home early and they concoct a story that they’re working on a science project together. It looks like Noah is becoming suspicious about Claire’s memory loss.

Later, Claire visits the Haitian in the desert. He admonishes her for calling upon him. She complains that she’s living a lie, and asks if he knows who her real parents were. He reveals that her mother died in an explosion many years ago, but he knows nothing of her father.

Back at the house, Noah Bennett receives the news that Sylar has died in custody. He instructs the doctor to get the body ready for shipping. However, as soon as the restraints are off, Sylar’s eyes open.

Zach and Claire manage to track down a news report about an explosion many years ago in which a mother and baby daughter were killed.

Upstairs in the bedroom, Claire hangs chimes on his windows as a way to summon the Haitian. She spends the next night browsing the phone book for possible leads on her biological mother. Noah visits her on the pretext of having a textbook to help her studies. She tells him she thinks it’s time he stopped bringing her teddy bears from his business trips. Before he leaves, he see the wind chimes outside her window. Does he know about the Haitian?

Matt tells his wife about his powers, but she thinks his imagination is running away. He heads off to the suspension review, but not before inadvertently reading his wife’s mind several times.

At the review hearing, Matt is taking heat for his report which seems fantastical. He hears the thoughts of one of the board who wants to destroy his career, so he changes tactics and says that he did it because he was passed over several times for promotion. Regardless, he receives a six month suspension and is asked to hand in his badge and gun.

Back at the flat, Matt rushes up the stairs to help his wife with a leak in the bathroom. He tells her about the suspension, and how his powers have done nothing good for him. She allows him to read his mind and he discovers they’re having a baby - will the baby have special abilities?

In her cell, Niki is visited by the psychiatrist who tries to help her by explaining that she faces a long spell in custody, and that she can have a reasonable life in prison.

DL Hawkins is having trouble at home - he can’t get a job, and he’s letting Micah down. They argue after DL loses Micah’s lunchbox.

Later, DL visits Niki in the cell and he admits they’re not getting along at home. DL is frantic to break Niki out and wonders if he can help her to phase through the cell walls. Still sensing that Jessica is a serious danger, she refuses, but tells DL to take Micah and give him stability.

Niki meets with the psychiatrist the next day and she threatens that unless she gets to speak to Jessica, Niki could be in prison for a very long time. Niki is reluctant to let Jessica come out, but decides to give it a go.

Back home, DL opens up to Micah about how tough things are, and they reconcile. Micah then shows him the money from the ATM and reveals he has powers too.

The next morning, Micah experiments with his own power over machinery and robs a bank machine.

Nathan and Mohinder track Peter down to his apartment. They argue with Peter, but just when it looks like he’s going to cooperate with them, he flees the apartment. The waiting guard didn’t see him leave, but the open window suggests to Mohinder that he flew away. However, we see that Claude has returned and the two are invisible in the hallway. Claude offers to help Peter.

The episode ends with Hiro and Ando discovering the Japanese businessman behind their capture, and Claire makes a phone call and speaks to her real mother. While on the phone, Claire’s mother lights a cigarette with flames from her fingers. Noah Bennett discovers the doctor dead where Sylar had been, then turns to find Sylar alive and standing right behind him.
