When we return to Heroes, cop Matt Parkman has been captured by Noah Bennett and his sinister friend. Hiro and Ando are in Las Vegas, and Niki Saunders and her son Micah are there also, paying a visit to loan shark Lindermann.

Claire Bennett is in hospital, and as the camera pans back, we discover chest skin has been completely stripped away and she’s on the autopsy table. The coroner removes the stick that’s pierced Claire’s brain and she starts to rejuvinate again. When the coroner’s back is turned, she slips out of the room.

Mohinder tracks down Nathan Petrelli. Although he tells Nathan his life is in danger, Nathan keeps his bodyguards between them and tells them to keep an eye on Mohinder.

Nathan’s brother Peter wakes up in his apartment next to Simone Deveaux. Nathan arrives at the door and acuses Peter of sending Mohinder to him. They both mistakenly think Mohinder is Chandra Suresh. Nathan tries to bribe Peter to stay out of the way for a while.

Afterward, Peter and Simone talk about Isaac Mendez and his ability to paint the future, and they agree to take things slower since she’s just out of a serious relationship.

Claire returns home and gets rumbled by Noah. Although she makes a lame excuse for being out all night, he doesn’t seem to believe her.

Mohinder receives his father’s ashes and ponders their relationship. Peter Petrelli arrives at the apartment and reveals his suspicions about his abilities to him.

Hiro and Ando are at the roulette table when Hiro stops time and places the ball so that they win. Although Hiro is reluctant, he agrees that this may be a way for them to support themselves. Props to Ando for his “Peter Parker sold pictures of Spider-Man” argument, in response to Hiro’s argument that fixing the result is unethical.

Peter theorises that when he’s around Nathan he can fly, so they decide to go to Isaac’s house to see if he can replicate Isaac’s abilities.

Simone calls with Isaac to collect her things and they argue abut his drug habit. He shows her a sketch pad with drawings of her kissing Peter Petrelli. When she challenges Isaac about following her, he tells her that those pictures were drawn weeks ago.

Claire refuses to tell anyone about the rape, Brody comes along and is shocked to see Claire alive.

Hiro and Ando’s cheating gains them a few hard gambling enemies and Niki purposely bumps into Nathan as part of her payback deal with Mr Lindermann.

On the subway, Peter and Mohinder are en route to Isaac’s. They talk about Chandra Suresh’s work and his outlook on evolution.

At Isaac’s, we see him alone with a blank canvas. He takes some drugs, goes into a trance-like state and starts to paint. The picture develops into Claire Bennett being chased by a shadowy character. He’s oblivious to Mohinder and Peter knocking at the door.

A schoolgirl approaches Claire and tells her that Brody raped her once. It turns out that Brody is a serial rapist and that Claire’s incident wasn’t an isolated occurrence. Claire hangs around school and bums a lift home with Brody. Stupidly he allows her to drive. She drives through red lights at breakneck speed while challenging him about the rape. He shows no remorse, even when she brings up the other girl. Well, all the talking done, CLaire drives straight into a wall, wrecking the car.

Niki manages to bluff her way into Nathan’s hotel room, and the two talk and flirt. Nathan kisses her, but Niki chooses to leave the room. However, outside the room one of Lindermann’s stooges grabs her and threatens her in the elevator. Her alter ego takes over and she beats the guy to a pulp, but then returns to Nathan’s room to finish Lindermann’s job. To fantastic effect, I might add…very kinky As the two sleep in bed later, Noah Bennett and his stooge appear in the room and take one of the two away.

Back on the subway, time slows down and stops. The lights go out and a noise startles Peter Petrelli. Hiro appears in front of him, but it is a different Hiro with close cropped hair. It is Hiro from the future. With a message. Cue dramatic cliffhanger…
