Hilda Ogden returning to Coronation Street for 50th anniversary

Coronation Street bosses are reportedly planning to bring back Hilda Ogden to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ITV soap later this year.

The Sunday People reports that other old faces who may pop up during the live episodes include Curly Watts, Mavis Wilton and Tracy Barlow, as well as a guest appearance by Oasis star Noel Gallagher.

Producer Kim Crowther told the newspaper: “We are planning lots. It will be must-see television. I’d love to see Hilda back.”

As they try to outdo last week’s Eastenders live episode, Corrie bosses are reportedly planning some big talking points for their anniversary celebrations.

A mole said: “EastEnders was brilliant but Corrie is twice as old and is planning to be twice as jaw-dropping, like nothing seen before. Corrie is cooking up ways to really blow fans’ minds. The fact they want Hilda back, shows they want it to be the stuff of soap legend.”

“There may well be some exciting returning cast. It would be fab to see Tracy Barlow back, wouldn’t it? “Noel Gallagher would be great as well. There are also plans for some new faces in the factory.”

“This year is the ultimate war of the soaps. EastEnders set the bar high on Friday but Corrie will want to smash it. Whatever happens, they will make it go with a bang.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure I remember an episode approx 2 yrs ago where Betty wanted time off work to go to Derbyshire for Hilda Ogden’s funeral, so how xan they bring her back for the 50th anniversary unless of course the writers are planning a ‘Dallas’ style return!!
