BBC racy drama, The Tudors has come under fire today from a leading historian, who calls the show “shameful!”

The Sun quote Tudors expert David Starkey as saying that the show brings ’shame’ on the BBC and he added:

“The Tudors is terrible history with no point. It’s wrong for no purpose.

“I’ve got no problem with getting history wrong for a purpose - Shakespeare often got things wrong for a reason.

“But it’s the randomised, arrogance of ignorance of The Tudors. Shame on the BBC for producing it. But saying that, my front cover is cribbed directly from it!”

He added: “Most of the costume is Elizabethan.”

I would hit back at David pointing out the massive success of the show both in the UK and the States. The producers must be doing something right. In fact Michael Hirst, the show’s creator, has previously defended the show against similar claims saying that its prime concern was entertaining the audience than of historical accuracy.
