Hit BBC sitcom Birds of a Feather is headed back to TV!

It’s been 14 years since we last paid a TV visit to Chigwell and more specifically to three of its Birds of a Feather inhabitants, Sharon, sister Tracey and cougar neighbour Dorien…

However, following a hugely successful revival of the show for a stage play adaptation, the comedy is coming back to TV with all the original main cast of Pauline Quirke – who of course recently played the role of Hazel Rhodes in EmmerdaleLinda Robson and Lesley Joseph on board to reprise their roles.

Speaking to the Mirror about Birds of a Feather returning to the BBC, Lesley said, “They are in talks to bring back the television show, with the three of us, as it wouldn’t work with anybody else and I’d absolutely love to do it…

“Pauline, Linda and I have loved the stage show. It’s a very unique bond that we have and it has been simply glorious to be a part of, it really has.

“We’ve had a fantastic time. We have packed out every night on the road and most evenings we’ve been getting a standing ovation. It’s like we’ve never been away.”

However as to the possible return of any of the three women’s husbands, Lesley said, “I don’t know that the husbands would be relevant any more.

“They’re there in the background but I don’t think they would come back for the show.

“It was always the girls that the audience have loved.”

Here’s a reminder of the show from its original TV outing…
