We reported earlier this week how the McQueen family were set for a big Von Trash family fall out, but wasn’t in the script was one of the shows biggest stars ending up injured as a result bar room brawl, the biggest to date!
It was only a matter of time, now that they are finally all reunited, that the McQueen family in Hollyoaks would join forces and cause trouble.
Fans of the hit show will know how, after being falsely diagnosed with ‘the shadow’ by future son-in-law Dr Paul Browning (Joe Thompson), McQueen matriarch, Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) has forgiven her wayward daughter, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) and welcomed her back into the fold of the family.
Now that Dr Browning has given her the all-clear, the family have been all out celebrating, despite many other unresolved issues still bubbling under the surface, but during a night out in the village pub, The Dog In The Pond, next week the family are set to cause mayhem as they turn the bar into a western-style saloon as they engage in a full on brawl!
The troubles are set to start next week when student, and newly appointed ‘naked butler’ Rob Edwards (David Atkins) makes a play for Phoebe (Mandip Gill) the foster daughter of Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper).
The rest of the McQueen clan, including Theresa (Jorgie Porter), Carmel (Gemma Merna and Nana (Diane Langton), do not take too kindly to his groping, and to show him just how much they dislike it, start a massive fight involving the entire pub!
As a result of their violent behaviour the entire family find themselves sharing a police cell, leaving their fate lying firmly in the hands of the dodgy family solicitor.
Snake-like Jim McGinn manages to get them off the hook, but when they return home they are horrified to discover that the bailiff’s have been and taken everything after Myra has kept a mounting debt a hidden secret from her family.
However, it wasn’t all fun and games when the camera started rolling as Nicole Barber-Lane told the Daily Star:
“It was so much fun. Everyone gets involved and it’s going to look so good,” Barber-Lane told the Daily Star.
“Everyone really went for it so there were loads of bruises and loads of scratches.
“All the girls thought that the lads were rugby players so really went for it and were whacking them for real – but they were models!”
The Channel 4 serial airs these scenes on Thursday, January 31 and Friday, February 1 at 6.30pm.
