Last night’s edition of E4’s first look at tonight’s Channel 4 episode of Hollyoaks revealed one of the show’s biggest – and best kept secret – storylines which kicked off when Brendan Brady found nurse Lynsey Nolan DEAD!

Lynsey’s fate has proven to be, as mentioned above, one of the best kept secrets in soapland, and apparently, not even Karen Hassan’s co-stars knew her ‘Oaks character was being written out.

But now of course begins a big whodunit because poor Lynsey didn’t merely pop off the mortal coil in her sleep and was in fact murdered. However, it seems fairly likely that Brendan (Emmett J Scanlan) will be the prime suspect given that by cradling her dead body, he’s left his own DNA, hair etc., all over the corpse.

That said though, Lynsey was of course serial killer Silas Blissett’s (Jeff Rawle) nemesis, and as fans of the show will know, he’s back in Chester and we’ll see his shocking return to the show soon…

Of the shocking plotline, a show insider told the Sun, “This has got to be soap’s best kept secret.

“No one even knew Karen was leaving. It will lead to a big whodunit plot.”

But aside from Brendan and Silas, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) is likely to be a suspect given that she’s been paranoid that Lynsey might spill her guts about Mercy’s stalking of Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton) which even saw her stabbing herself!

Ally Gorman (Dan O’Connor) and Walker (Neil Newbon) also had their reasons for wanting to ensure Lynsey’s silence, given she was getting a bit too close to discovering their secrets…
