We reported last week how Jeff Rawle had been spotted on the set of hit Channel 4 teen drama, Hollyoaks, sparking rumours that his character, murderer Silas Blissett, was due to return to the show (read original article here).
And yesterday producers of the show released a teasing, and slightly terrifying, promo announcing his return.
Silas has been at the fore front of the residents of Hollyoaks minds recently as it was revealed that he would not stand trial for his crimes, which included murdering Texas’s (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) sister India Longford (Beth Kingston), Jenny (Daisy Turner), Rae Wilson (Alice Barlow) – who he framed Brendan Brady (Emmett J Scanalan) for, as well as attempting to murder Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan) and kidnapping his grandson, Riley’s (Rob Norbury) pregnant fiancée, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) and killing his dad Carl Costello (Paul Opacic) after finding out that the pair had slept together.
The news that he would not stand trial, due to being certified insane, certainly didn’t go down well with the likes of Lynsey and Mercedes, with Mercedes going into complete prostitution-self-loathing meltdown mode, leaving Lynsey to pick up the pieces, so we wonder just what his return will do to the pair.
The details of his return are being kept tightly under wraps, and we wonder just how a certified insane murderer will be free to walk the streets of Hollyoaks unnoticed, but pictures leaked recently show Rawle walking round the Liverpool set at Lime Studio’s suggesting that he will in fact play a major part in the show as opposed to a behind bars back-lining story. Lets face it, he can’t do a lot from the confides of his padded cell, so an escape seems the only likely explanation.
The promo, released by Channel 4 is, albeit very short, up to the usual dramatically amazing standards of all Hollyoaks promo’s, and sends a shiver down the viewers spine as Blissett declares he is indeed coming back, seemingly even more manic and unhinged than ever.

Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
