Creative Director, Tony Woods, has today made the announcement that he is stepping down from his role at Lime Pictures, the production company behind both Hollyoaks and The Only Way Is Essex.
According to Broadcast, Woods will leave his current position, which he has held for the last seven years, at the end of this month, and will reportedly not be immediately replaced.
Staff at the studio, where both shows are managed, were reportedly broken the news to yesterday via an email that went out to all staff by Lime’s chief executive Lesley Douglas .
In a statement, Douglas commented: “I have loved working with Tony this past year, strengthening the creative team and securing a structure to take Lime into its next exciting stage as we expand into new territories and broaden our range of programmes.
“We are all immensely grateful to Tony for the legacy he leaves behind him, and I hope we work together again in the future.”
This comes a few months after Hollyoaks series director, Emma Smithwick also stood down from her role, leaving former Hollyoaks and EastEnders director, Bryan Kirkwood, to step back in to the position of series director, where it was thought he would be working alongside Tony Wood for the foreseeable future.
Since joining the production team seven years ago, Tony has been instrumental in the planning and filming of some of the shows biggest and most spectacular story lines to date, including the epic Enjoy The Ride wedding day bus crash that rocked Hollyoaks village last month, leaving Rhys Ashworth (Andy Moss), Maddie Morrison (Scarlet Bowman), Neil Cooper (Tossin Cole) and Martin “Jono” Johnson (Dylan Llewellyn) all dead.

Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
