Emma, who makes a return to TV in new BBC1 drama Prisoners’ Wives, left Hollyoaks and her role as Hannah Ashworth in 2010.
Speaking to What’s On TV, she said, “I don’t watch it, but one of my best friends is Andrew Moss who played my older brother, so he informs me of all the happenings.
“It’s not the kind of thing I would watch – I’ve never been a soap fan.”
Emma went on to say that she’s excited to be among the cast of Prisoners’ Wives, in which she plays a pregnant woman whose husband is in prison…
Of the role, she said, “This is what I left Hollyoaks for. I’m so fortunate to have been able to play this part.
“I’m grateful for Hollyoaks but this is the new me.”
Back now to the news that there’s to be a new character in the show, and Digital Spy report that the show’s bosses are looking to cast a deaf actor who’ll play the role of 16 year old Mikey.
DS states, “The newcomer will initially appear as a guest on the teen drama, but it is thought that he could later become a regular.”
An online ad for part reads, “Hollyoaks is looking for a deaf actor over 16 years old. This is a brilliant role for a young deaf actor.
“After a few initial episodes, the role will feature heavily in groundbreaking online material, before returning to the show and potentially becoming a regular character.
“Actors can be fully or partially deaf, must be able to communicate in sign language, and must be either 16 or older and able to realistically play 16.”
We’ll bring you more news on the casting as and when the actor has been chosen.
