Hollyoaks Enjoy The Ride ready to explode onto our Channel 4 screens on Monday night, one of the main stars involved in the disaster, Nick Pickard, has revealed his hopes for the future, should his character survive!
Fans of the award-winning Channel 4 soap will know that Nick’s character, Tony Hutchinson, had his heart broken in last night’s episode when he witnessed his bride to be, Cindy (Stephanie Waring) kissing Rhys Ashworth (Andy Moss).
Cindy at Rhys had been having an affair for months, which was brought to an end by Cindy last week after a small accident resulted in Tony losing his sight, making Cindy realise how much she really did love him. Desperate not to lose her already once ex-husband, Cindy decided to bring their wedding forward to next week in a joint ceremony with Ste Hay (Keiron Richardson) and Doug Carter (PJ Brennan).

Unfortunately her actions made Rhys also understand his feelings clearer and has been begging Cindy to call off the wedding and run away with him. Cindy has refused, but last night gave into temptation and kissed Rhys, before declaring it a kiss goodbye. Meanwhile Tony, who had come out looking for Cindy to tell her that his sight had returned, witnessed the whole thing, but as Cindy and Rhys were not aware his sight had come back, they think they are in the clear.
Heartbroken Tony decides to go ahead and marry Cindy anyway, keeping what he saw to himself, a decision that his actor, Nick Pickard, does not agree with whatsoever, especially as Cindy decides to run away with Rhys after saying I do, but is side tracked when a mini bus crashes through the ceremony.
The mini bus, originally being loaded up Brendan (Emmett J Scanlan) with the wedding cakes, is hijacked by Maddie Morrison (Scarlet Bowman) in order to drive Ruby and her fiancée, Jono (Dylan Llewellyn) to Gretna Green to get married. When they realise that the cakes are in the bus, they decided to do the right thing and drive them to the wedding marquee, but when Bart (Johnny Clarke) and Esther (Jazmine Franks) try and force the bus off the road to try and stop the teenagers eloping, disaster strikes.
Unwilling to pull over, Maddie continues driving at speed with Bart right next to her, but when little Leah Hay walks into the road, both vehicles are forced to swerve to avoid hitting her. Unfortunately, the mini bus brakes fail and the vehicle, including most of the sixth formers, ploughs strait into the wedding receptions, leaving the entire party buried in rubble when the bus explodes inside.
Speaking to Inside Soap Pickard, who is the only remaining original character in the soap, explained why he thinks his character would be better off without Cindy
“Tony feels like his whole life is unravelling around him, and then the mini-bus comes crashing through the wall! He’s gutted that Cindy has betrayed him, but all the carnage of the smash soon gets in the way.”
He continued: “If Tony and Cindy survive, I hope he finally dumps her – because she’s always mugging him off. People usually tell me to get rid of her! I’d like Tony to find some happiness at last.”

Discussing the bus crash itself, Pickard continued:
“It was the biggest explosion I’ve ever seen in my life. I watched from a safe distance and I could still feel the heat. The sheep were two fields away and they raced off! We filmed on location at Knowsley Hall, which is a very grand setting for a big Hollyoaks disaster.”
