As we have previously reported, this year’s Hollyoaks Later will focus on only original character, Tony Hutchinson’s journey of self-discovery following his battle with cancer, and is set to bring back some old familiar faces to join him on his “Hangover” style adventure in the form of Rory ‘Finn’ Finnigan, Jeremy Kurt Benson and Dom Reilly – and now his ex Mandy Richardson has been revealed as joining them too!
Taking centre stage for this year’s late night series is Tony Hutchinson, played by only original cast member Nick Pickard, along with James Redmond (Rory ‘Finn’ Finnigan), Jeremy Edwards (Kurt Benson) and John Pickard (Dom Reilly) and now Sarah Jayne Dunn who played Mandy, as they encounter all sorts of weird and wonderful characters along the way, such as The White Man, played by TV and film hard man, Danny Dyer!
Mandy had an on and off relationship with Tony since arriving in the soap back in 1996 before getting married to him and then having a daughter, named Grace, who later tragically died of cot death.
This led to the character and Dunn’s exit from the serial in 2006, although she did make a brief return in 2007 before making another return for six months in 2008.
Dunn again returned as Mandy in 2010 in a storyline which also saw the return of Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), but in September 2011, she announced her departure from the show and Mandy made her last appearance in September 2011, after her character callously dumped Tony in a letter.
And now the actress has revealed that she is to return to the show for the special late night series, with her official website announcing: “Sarah is returning to Hollyoaks to once again reprise her role of Mandy for the Hollyoaks Later episodes.
“What will be in store for Mandy this time around? Watch this space.”
