It seems that Strictly fever has well and truly hit the set of Hollyoaks, as Lucy Dixon reveals that she would love to compete in the hit BBC dancing show.
Ever since Strictly Come Dancing began ten series’ ago, it became a hot attraction for soap stars, new and old alike, to showcase some of their other talents hidden by the day to day drama their full time soap job dominates.
In the past the show, which returns later this year for its 11th series hosted by Sir Brice Forsyth and Tess Daily, has mainly focussed on BBC EastEnders actors with former competitors including the likes of Letitia Dean, Cara Tointon and Jessie Wallace, but in the last few years we have seen some of their other rival soap actors getting a look in too.
In this year’s line-up Ashley Taylor-Dawson, who plays Darren Osborne in Hollyoaks, is taking part – The second ever Hollyoaks star to compete in the prestigious competition.
And it seems his new adventure has tickled the fancy of one of his co-stars, Lucy Dixon, who has revealed to Inside Soap how she too would love to take part in the show, explaining:
“I’d love to go on Strictly Come Dancing because my mum used to do the foxtrot, tango and ballet.
“I think she would love to say that I’d been on a TV show and done all that. And I really do love dancing – I used to do it a lot when I was younger.”
Lucy, who plays student Tilly Evans in the award-winning Channel 4 soap, is due to star in this year’s much-anticipated late night Hollyoaks spin-off, Hollyoaks Later, where she will get to work with her real life boyfriend, Laurie Duncan, who plays Callum Kane, which she doesn’t often get to do:
“Laurie has completely separate storylines from me and, because he is part of a family, he mostly tends to do scenes with them.
“Until recently we hadn’t actually been on set together! But in Hollyoaks Later, we have been working together, and it has been really good, actually.
“I always worry that if we spend every hour in each other’s company, we are going to get tired of it, but it just hasn’t happened.”
Hollyoaks Later is set to return to our screens later this year.
