Hollyoaks: Nicki Sanderson (Maxine Minniver) rules out Coronation Street return!

Already a firm favourite amongst Hollyoaks fans, former Coronation Street star, Nicki Sanderson has revealed that when it comes to soap-swapping, she won’t be looking back!

Nicki burst on to our Hollyoaks screens earlier this year as Maxine Minniver, the older, and uncannily identical sister of show favourite Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton).

And, despite her sister leaving only a couple of months after her arrival, Nicki Sanderson has become one of Hollyoaks main attractions!

Nicki first hit soap land back in 1999 as Corrie crimper Candice Stowe, before making her Weatherfield getaway in 2005 as the new on-tour stylist for 80’s rock group, Status Quo.

However, despite Corrie being the soap that launched her career, Nicki insists she is more than happy at Hollyoaks, and would never return!

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Sanderson said: “I’ve never even thought about going back to Corrie – I left seven years ago.

“I’ve done so many other things in that time. That’s why it doesn’t even feel like a crossover going into Hollyoaks, I’ve had a complete career between the two soaps.

“It’s such a happy place on Hollyoaks, everyone has really welcomed me. And I love playing Maxine, she’s such a fantastic character and I really enjoy the comedy side of her character. And I get to say things to people that I would never, ever say in real life!”

But, despite her anti-rear-view-mirror philosophy, the actress admits she still savours some happy memories from her time on the cobbles:

“Corrie was my first main job and I loved it, I loved being challenged. When I left Corrie I went on to a job where we were filming four or five scenes a day. I couldn’t believe it, I was used to filming 16 scenes a day! I’d just assumed all TV work was like that.

“It taught me so much.”

Hollyoaks can be seen weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
