We reported earlier this month how This Morning host, Eamon Holmes, was making a cameo in the hit Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks, along side Rachel Shenton who plays Mitzeee Minniver, and now it has been revealed that this storyline is part of Mitzeee’s show exit, as Rachel Shenton has announced that she has quit the show!
Holmes, who is one of This Mornings co-hosts with his wife, Ruth Langsford, has reportedly already filmed the scenes, in which he joined forces with Rachel Shenton who plays Mitzeee Minniver and Sky News, last week.
According to Digital Spy, Shenton and the Hollyoaks crew travelled up to Sky News’ headquarters in London to film the scenes, which are expected to be of former socialite Mitzeee appearing on Holmes’s Sunrise programme.
Originally the details of the scenes, and of Mitzeee’s appearance on the show, were being kept tightly under-wraps, and after the turbulent year that Mitzeee has just had, we had no doubt they would be filled with drama.
So far this year Mitzeee has been stalked at the hands of her lovers crazed ex , Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) who then stabbed herself and framed Mitzeee for it. Mitzeee was then sent to prison, awaiting trial for attempted murder, but whilst being transported with another prisoner, was forced by her handcuffed friend to go on the run with her in pursuit of her boyfriend who she wanted to make her pregnant during this year’s epic Hollyoaks Later series.
If that wasn’t bad enough, she then had to watch the love of her life, her second cousin Riley (Rob Norbury) die in front of her after being shot by a stray bullet fired in the violent showdown between Walker (Neil Newbon) and Brendan Brady (Emmett J. Scanlan).
Now, released from prison and starting to re-build her life with the help of her sister, Maxine (Nikki Sanderson), Mitzeee is finally starting to look to the future, but unfortunately that future is not going to be set in Hollyoaks.
According to Digital Spy, Mitzeee is bowing out of the award-winning soap next February during the storyline involving her Sunrise appearance with Holmes.
In a statement Rachel Shenton who plays the long-suffering socialite said: “Mitzeee’s final week is not to be missed, especially when she finds herself chatting to the fabulous Mr Holmes.
“I’ve had an amazing two years playing Mitzeee.
“She’s been on an incredible journey that’s not over yet…
“It’s been an absolute privilege to work with the cast and crew that make Hollyoaks such a special place.
“This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve made, but I feel it’s time for Mitzeee and myself to move onto pastures new.”
