Hollyoaks actress, Rachel Shenton, has revealed that she wants her character, Mitzeee Minniver, to “come out fighting” when she features heavily in this year’s Hollyoaks Later.

Hollyoaks Later, which is due to premier on Monday 17th September, is set to be a cocktail of drama, featuring some of the biggest soap characters in an explosion of must-see-TV, and Mitzeee is right in the thick of it.

Fans of the show will know how Mitzeee is currently behind bars having pleaded guilty for the stabbing of Mercedes Fisher (Jennifer Metcalfe), which was actually a self-inflicted injury on the black widow’s part.

Things are set to get worse for Mitzeee in the weeks to come, especially as she ends up being committed to a secure psychiatric unit following a breakdown.

All hope isn’t lost though, as fans will already have seen the penny start to drop for her best friend, Nancy (Jessica Fox) about the details of the stabbing, and when Mercedes mum, Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) attends the hearing of her daughters assailant and starts to suspect the truth too.

Shenton told Inside Soap: “So many horrible things have happened to Mitzeee – she’s so far removed from the girl she was six months ago. This whole chain of events sends her into an even deeper depression.

“Her mum comes to visit her in jail, and that’s the first point viewers will see something’s really not quite right with Mitzeee now.”

However, Hollyoaks chiefs have kept tight-lipped over how Mitzeee can be out and about in Later this year given her current situation.

Shenton teased: “You’ll see Mitzeee back in the thick of things – though it might not be how you think! Hopefully her recent experiences will change her for the good, and she’ll come out fighting.”
