Hollyoaks spoiler: Ally Grogan (Dan O’Connor) to help Carmel Valentine (Gemma Merna) through crisis, what will Amy think?

After the traumatic ordeal Carmel Valentine has recently endured in Hollyoaks, she is set to find an unlikely rock to lean on in Ally Grogan.

Carmel has been in hospital after a tanning device exploded in her face causing  horrific burns and permanent scarring to her face.  Distraught with her new appearance she has run away from hospital as well as attempting to jump off the roof of the hospital and in scenes to be shown in the next few weeks is set to hide out in hospital too afraid to be seen by anyone after she is discharged.

However, according to Digtal Spy, Gemma Merna, who plays the unlucky-in-love McQueen, has revealed that an unlikely friendship formed between Carmel and Ausie hunk, Ally Grogan (Dan O’Connor) will be the strength she needs to overcome her hangups.

Ally, who is currently dating Amy Barnes (Ashley Slanina-Davies) in the hit Channel 4 show, will reportedly try to show Carmel how much she has to live for by introducing her to some injured soldier friends of his, but according to Merna this will develop into something much deeper.

Merna explained: “He introduces her to two war veterans. One is in a wheelchair and has no legs, and the other has lost an arm. He says, ‘Look, you can still have a life after these kind of things happen’.

“He becomes her rock and when she goes home, he’s by her side all the time. She says, ‘Please stay with me’. It’s good for her to get her feelings out to someone who doesn’t judge her, and doesn’t know much about what she was like before.”

However the actress admits that there is still a long way for her character to go before the mental damage of what happened will be repaired:

Merna said: “She can’t even look at herself in the mirror.”

Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel4/Channel4 HD.
