Hollyoaks Spoiler: Ruby reveals her true colours to Esther!

by Anna Howell

Long suffering Esther Bloom’s misery is set to intensify next week in Hollyoaks, when her supposed best friend, Ruby Button, reveals her true intentions.

Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how Esther (Jazmine Franks) has been bullied for months at the hands of Ruby’s (Anna Schafer) friends, mainly Maddie Morrison (Scarlet Bowman) and Sinead O’Connor (Stephanie Davis) who have played a number of nasty tricks on her, and humiliated her continuously both face to face, and online.

However, with the recent wedding day bus crash, the abuse has dwindled right down, due mainly to the fact that Maddie was killed in the crash, and Sinead has discovered she is pregnant!

Desperate to keep Bart (Johnny Clark) from going to prison, Sinead and Ruby have made Esther believe that they are all friends again in order to stop her from telling the police that Bart was driving the vehicle that made Maddie swerve off road and eventually crash.

Esther has gone along with their request, despite wanting to tell the police the truth even if it implicates her for leaving the scene of the crime, whilst Rub insists that she doesn’t hold Esther responsible for the tragedy, which resulted in the death of Ruby’s fiancée, Jono (Dylan Llewellyn) also.

However, once the police have closed their investigation leaving the sixth formers in the clear, Esther is in for a huge shock when a bitter and spiteful Ruby reveals that she does in fact blame her for the crash and makes it pretty clear that Esther’s days of being bullied are far from over.

With pressures mounting on poor Esther, she has a breakdown at a memorial service held for the bus crash victims, and tells everyone exactly what she thought of Maddie.

Whilst this outburst angers Ruby, that may be the least of her worries as finally the penny drops for her and Esther’s guardian’s, Frankie and Jack, who demand answers as to what has been going on.

This bullying storyline is set to continue well in to the new year, and as part of the awareness into the subject, Channel 4 has launched its own online interactive incentive, DocYou, to help people going through similar situations to Esther.  Watch a clip of sixth formers, pre bus crash, on the site in the clip below:
