Hollyoaks newcomer, Ayden Callaghen, has warned fans that there is a dark past that his character, Joe Roscoe is desperately trying to hide.
Former Emmerdale actor Callaghen bounded on to our screens last week as part of the newest family in town, the Roscoe’s, lead by former EastEnder Gillian Taylforth as the matriarchal mother Sandy.
Discussing his new role with Buckingham Today, Callaghan said: “It’s a great character, I’m really chuffed. He’s the alpha male, there’s no nonsense with him at all.
“He’s a guy who’s full of love and passion, but there is another side to him. There is a dark past there that he’s trying to subdue.”
With five brothers all living under the same roof there was always bound to be trouble, but as Joe seems to be the most sensible, we wonder if his dark past has anything to do with the arrival of his fiancée, Lindsey, who is set to arrive next month.
Lindsey will make her mark on the village as the fiancé of eldest Roscoe brother, Joe (Ayden Callaghan) and will make her Hollyoaks debut early next month.
Lindsey (Sophie Austin) is described as “feisty, determined and driven” and is thought to be more than capable of shooting down the male Roscoes (though probably not their mum so much)!
Lindsey’s relationship with Joe is described as strong – she is the love of his life in fact, and her presence in the family is respected, especially by Joe’s mum, Sandy (Gillian Taylforth), who appreciates another female tally to count.
Much like the last ‘Lyndsey’ in Hollyoaks, Lindsey will be spending many a scene with Dr Browning (Joseph Thompson) as she is a junior doctor, taking work experience at the local hospital, where the two end up being colleagues.
Discussing her new role with Digital Spy, Austin commented:
“I’m so excited to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks as Lindsey Butterfield and being part of the Roscoe clan. We have lots of exciting stories ahead.”
Hollyoaks can be seen weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
