Whilst Hollyoaks is, as always, filled to the brim with drama at the moment, some new storylines to wet your appetite have been revealed.
We reported earlier today how Dr Browning (Joseph Thompson) is about to embark on an indecent proposal storyline with his boss, Davies and his fiancée, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) when he is told he can keep his job in exchange for letting Davies spend the night with the feisty McQueen.
Whilst the outcome of this particular storyline remains a mystery, what has been revealed is that the recent stories that Jennifer Metcalfe is quitting the show to pursue a career in Hollywood are not true.
Jennifer Metcalfe has made headlines recently after her long-term partner, Dancing On Ice professional skater, Sylvain Longchambon, ended their two year relationship at Christmas after admitting he had developed feelings for his current Dancing On Ice partner, Coronation Street star, Samia Ghadie.
Since then stories about all three have been pinging back and forth, with one of the most recent being that Jennifer was set to quit her role as Mercedes and move to Hollywood to better her career.
A friend of Jen’s at the time told the Daily Star newspaper:
“She has always had this American dream and an ambition to go to the States. She knows it’s going to be tough but her old cast mates Emma Rigby and Ricky Whittle have managed to do it. They’ve said they will introduce her to the right people.
“Jen wants to push the boundaries and see where it takes her. She knows the best way to get back at someone is to be a success and that’s what she plans to do.”
However, Hollyoaks have now revealed that these reports were false and that there are no plans for Jen to leave the show now, or anytime soon.
Jennifer will, however, go off-screen soon for a short while as she performed in Pantomime over Christmas and so is on a break from the show till mid-February, but she will most definitely be back!
In the meantime viewers can look forward to a new face appearing on the hit Channel 4 soap, mysterious Kevin who applies for a barman job at Chez Chez at the end of the month.
Played by actor Elliot Balchin, who has already taken to social networking site Twitter to announce his casting, Kevin seems to be the favourite to get the job after Brendan (Emmett J. Scanlan) dislikes all the applicants. However, Brendan may have made a huge mistake when Kevin starts spying on him and Ste (Kieron Richardson) and reporting his findings back to an unknown accomplice.
That may be the least of Stendan’s problems though as the end of the month sees the return of Ste’s jilted husband, Doug Carter (PJ Brennan). However, considering what has gone on, and what he is coming back to, Doug seems strangely upbeat. Has he replaced Ste as quickly as Ste replaced him we wonder?
Another returning face, as we reported earlier this month, is Amy Barnes (Ashley Slanina-Davies).
Amy was last seen on our screens heading off to Manchester to start a new life with her and Ste’s kids. However, Ste has since had the kids back with him whilst Amy travelled with her new fiancé.
When she arrives back this month, though, it becomes abundantly clear that Ste hasn’t been particularly honest with her about his change in circumstances. How will she react to having her kids living with the double B moustached monster that is Brendan Brady? Not well we imagine!
Finally, after discovering that Brendan’s father, Seamus (Fintan McKeown) had sexually abused Brendan as a child during last summer’s Hollyoaks Later, viewers will finally see Brendan confide his secret in someone, and who better than Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton)!
The truth is set to come out in typical Brendan style later this month when he loses his temper with the socialite, resulting in him admitting what his father did.
Mitzeee pleads with him to tell her more, but will he?
Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD!
