The last twelve months for Cindy Cunningham in Hollyoaks have been intense to say the very least!
Not only did a minibus crash through her wedding to Tony (Nick Pickard) killing her not-so-secret lover Rhys in the process, Cindy (Stephanie Waring) then went on to find out she was pregnant by the man who almost killed her.
She got her own back, of course, when she helped her friends Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Lindsey (Sophie Austin) murder him and dispose of the body.
After that life seemed to settle down for the feisty shop worker – She has started a new relationship with Dirk Savage (David Kennedy) and was looking forward to the birth of her baby.
However, things take a drastic turn in an upcoming storyline when, after a series of strange events surrounding the Price Slice freezer, where the girls his Browning’s body, Cindy starts to panic that someone knows her secret and is out to get her.
She turns to Mercy and Lindsey, who think that her teenage daughter, Holly (Amanda Clapham) may have something to do with it, but when she insists that she knows nothing Cindy really starts to fret over what is happening.
Things get really serious when the stress of it all gets too much for her and Cindy ends up collapsing at work, leaving her friends and loved ones concerned for her, and her unborn baby.
This event leads to a huge storyline for Cindy who, in the weeks that follow, will have to cope with the fear and anxiety of her baby being 3 months premature, and Stephanie Waring, the actress who plays Cindy, has been opening up to All About Soap!
The actress, who has been in the soap on and off since 1996, explained to the publication what happens:
“It all comes to a head – the stress of everything. And her waters break when she’s only six months along. It’s complete shock and panic.
“Cindy’s terrified because it’s very rare that babies survive being born at 24 weeks, so it’s really a scary time for her.”
Whilst we don’t want to give away what happens next, Stephanie isn’t too optimistic about her character’s future, as she explained:
“I have no idea how this is going to affect Cindy, but I don’t think it’s going to be happy camping anytime soon.”
Hollyoaks can be seen weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4 / Channel 4 HD – Watch out for our EXCLUSIVE interview with Stephanie Waring coming soon!
