Hollyoaks Spoilers: Will Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) come between Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Dr Browning (Joe Thompson)? And Gillian Taylforth’s character, Sandy, and her four sons are here to cause trouble!
After we revealed yesterday that actress Gemma Bissix is returning to Hollyoaks to reprise her role as super-vixen, Clare Devine, we can now confirm to you when, and what she is going to be getting up to!
Hollyoaks have confirmed that the villainous vixen will return to the village with her first scenes due to be screened towards the end of next month, as well as revealing some details of her shock return!
Gemma Bissix first left the soap in 2007 before briefly returning in 2009 when her character, Clare tried to get revenge on enemies Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and Justin Burton (Chris Fountain), leading to her arrest.
Speaking of her last return at the time, Bissix commented:
“She’s back for revenge. Obviously Warren and Justin are involved but one minute she’s not there and the next minute she is – you don’t expect her to come back. She’s definitely a shadow of her former self — in the nicest possible way! She’s deranged and completely psychotic. She’s greasy-haired and looking like a trashy prostitute, but it’s absolutely fabulous! No holds barred as far as she’s concerned, and that’s what’s been great for me to play.
“Before you always had to hide Clare’s nastiness and act like she’s nice and normal, but this time everybody knows what she’s like so there’s no hiding the psychopath. That’s why I don’t think the audience will be disappointed — I think they’ll love it or hate it!”
Clare’s welcome home storyline will see her try and get between super-evil couple, Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and her new fiancée, murderer Paul Browning (Joseph Thompson), though the how’s and why’s are still being kept under wraps at this time.
Bissix said today: “I’m really looking forward to re-joining the cast of Hollyoaks. Clare Devine is one of my favourite characters and I can’t wait to get back into the role.
“I’m particularly excited to be working with [executive producer] Bryan Kirkwood again. He first cast me as evil Clare and I hear he is doing amazing things with Hollyoaks at the moment, so I’m really looking forward to being a part of it. Bring back the bitch!”
Meanwhile, another new face in Hollyoaks, former EastEnder Gillian Taylforth, has spoken out about her new role as mum-of-five, Sandy Roscoe.
Sandy and her five sons are expected to stir gage quite a lot of attention from the rest of the village when they burst on to our screens, with local girls due to swoon over the five handsome newcomers. But, like any good Hollyoaks family, they are also set to stir quite a lot of trouble too!
Taylforth commented: “I am really looking forward to joining Hollyoaks, which is going from strength to strength under Bryan Kirkwood at the moment.
“My real family are excited to move up to Liverpool – a fantastic city – and I’m eager to meet my new family, five hunky Hollyoaks sons who I’m sure will all be saints!”
