We have all been a tad suspicious ever since it was revealed that Sandy Roscoe and Jack Osborne had a connection from their pasts in Hollyoaks, and it didn’t take a genius to work out what that connection was!
When Sandy (Gillian Taylforth) rocked up in the village with her five sons, Joe (Aydan Callaghan), Freddie (Charlie Clapham), Ziggy (Fabrizio Santino), Robbie (Charlie Wernham) and Jason (Alfie Sykes-Browne), all going on about how great their late father was and how close a family they were we knew it wouldn’t be long before a few skeletons came out to play.
And we were right, no sooner had they unpacked the beloved family album, Sandy ran into a half-naked Jack (Jimmy McKenna) and from the looks on both their faces it wasn’t the first time she had seen him like that!
Of course, in the grand tradition of soaps, that got our minds to wondering if Jack could turn out to be the secret father of one of her boys, and as Joe is the oldest he seemed the most likely candidate.
And it seems we were right as in an upcoming storyline Jack’s wife Frankie (Helen Pearson) suspects Jack of being Joe’s father and sends Darren (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) round to confront him (right after she has run down Joe’s fiancée Lindsey, causing her to miscarry their unborn baby), in front of the grieving Roscoe family.
And this revelation is not the only stain on Sandy’s pure white nurses uniform – in tonight’s episode fans will learn that Joe isn’t the only one of Sandy’s sons who (possibly) doesn’t belong to saintly absent father Alan – Robbie and Jason aren’t his either!
Elsewhere, and after her night of strip poker which had her believing for half a day that she was a lesbian, Carmel McQueen is set to find happiness again when her ex fiancé, Jim McGinn (Dan Tetsell) turns up in full knight gear on a white steed to win her back.
Fans of the award-winning Channel 4 soap will know how Carmel actually proposed to Jim earlier this year but the engagement was soon called off when it was revealed that Jim had indulged in a spot of extra curriculum activity with Carmel’s mum, Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane).
But now that Myra has fled, letting her children believe she is dead, Carmel needs comfort more than ever, and ever the gent Jim decides it is time he put the smile back on the beautifully reconstructed face he paid for and proposes to Carmel in extravagant style on a white horse like something out of a fairy-tale.
Of course she accepts!
Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel4 / Channel 4 HD.
