Darren Osborne’s plan to raise enough cash to buy the Dog in the Pond goes horribly wrong in an upcoming Hollyoaks storyline, when an altercation between him and the Kane family sees him lose his trading license!
Fans of the award-winning Channel 4 soap will know how, after leaving for America with Carl Costello, Mitzeee Minniver (Rachel Shenton) decided to sell the pub that the love of her life, her second cousin Riley Costello (Rib Norbury) left her when he was accidentally murdered by a stray bullet shot by Walker (Neil Newbon).
This leaves the pubs current tenants, Darren (Ashley Taylor-Dawson), Nancy (Jessica Fox), Jack (Jimmy McKenna) and Frankie Osborne (Helen Pearson) in a bit of a predicament.
With Esther (Jazmine Franks) still in hospital, and baby Oscar still battling the effects of his premature birth (which incidentally was all Mitzeee’s fault), the chances of them being able to stump up the cash to buy the pub outright are slim to none.
However, Darren has an idea to sell the house that is currently being rented by the Kane family.
Unfortunately for the Osborne’s, however, the Kane’s know their rights and refuse to move out before their lease is up, meaning that someone else will almost certainly buy the pub.
Desperate not to see his family out on the street, Darren concocts a plan and advertises a party at the house on social networking site, Facebook, hoping to use their breach of tenancy terms to evict them legally with immediate effect.
Unfortunately for Darren Callum (Laurie Duncan) figures out what Darren is up to and sends all the party goers, most of whom are underage, over to the Dog instead.
Furious, Darren heads over to the house to trash it whilst the family is out but, when Martha (Carli Norris) catches him in the act, Callum resorts to harsh measures as he calls the police and reports Darren for serving the underage drinkers from the party, losing him his license to manage the pub!
