Former Emmerdale actress, Kirsty-Leigh Porter, is joining the cast of Hollyoaks, it has been revealed.
Porter, who up until recently was in a long-term relationship with her Dales co-star, award-winning actor Danny Miller, is reported by SoapSquawk to be playing a full-time character later this year.
According to the publication the actress, who played Roz Fielding in the hit ITV soap, will play a character who will “cause chaos” for one village resident in particular, although details at this stage are being kept closely guarded.
Hollyoaks executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said of Porter, who has also starred in Coronation Street, Doctors, Shameless and Ashes to Ashes:
“Kirsty Leigh-Porter is a terrific signing for Hollyoaks.
“She will join us later on in the year in a very exciting role.
“She is certainly set to mix things up for one of our much-loved characters.”
And what better time for her to join the cast than now, as the entire show is about to take summer to the maximum drama levels as more storylines than you can shake a stick at begin, conclude or simply evolve!
As we reported earlier this year Ste’s (Kieron Richardson) mum is set to return to the village after being seen by Toby (Nick Pickard) whilst undergoing treatment for his cancer. The loveable chef decides to make it his mission to reunite mother and son, especially given the circumstances, but will he succeed?
And just when we had really started to root for Doug (PJ Brennan) and John-Paul (James Sutton), it would seem that their relationship is not due to be a long-term one as it has been revealed that John-Paul is to set his sights on new sixth form drama teacher, Danny Lomax!
Danny seems to be keen too, but as more and more about his past starts to seep out, effecting quite a few Hollyoaks residents – is their relationship all it seems?
Meanwhile Sienna (Anna Passey) sees an opportunity to manipulate her way back into the fold of the Osborne family when Darren (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) offers her job back behind the bar. Her next move in her mission to conquer all sees Nancy (Jessica Fox) deserted by her entire family, who then welcome Sienna in with open arms to fill her place – will Sienna get away with it?
Finally Patrick’s (Jeremy Sheffield) manipulation of Maxine intensifies as he continues to slowly change her entire wardrobe and personality, but that isn’t all the drama he will find himself involved in this summer as Ash (Holly Weston) takes a new job caring for his ex-wife Anna Savage (Saskia Wickham) and finds out quite a few shocking secrets regarding his, and the rest of the clan’s past!
Hollyoaks can be seen weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
