Bosses at Hollyoaks have released the first complete picture of new family on the block, the Roscoe’s!
Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how Robbie (Charlie Wernham) and Freddie (Charlie Clapham) are already currently sniffing round the village, but later this month we shall see the arrival of their mum and three brothers as the Roscoe family move in for good!
Head of this new family, dubbed by show exec producer Bryan Kirkwood as being the male version of the McQueen’s (we feel sorry for John Paul every time we hear that), is former EastEnders actress, Gillian Taylforth.
Taylforth, who played Phil Mitchell’s wife Kathy in the hit BBC soap before taking part in last year’s Celebrity Big Brother, is playing Robbie and Freddie’s single mum Sandy, and is joined in the village by her three other sons, Jason, Ziggy and Joe, with their arrival due to hit our screens on Thursday May 23rd.
Warm and loving district nurse Sandy, is said to have her work cut out for her keeping the boys in order as they set up a family garage business, Roscoes’ Motor Maintenance.
Whist loved and respected by her family, Sandy has got a feisty side and will go to any length to protect her boys.
Playing oldest Roscoe boy Joe is former Emmerdale actor Ayden Callaghan.
Callaghan played the part of Nicola King’s (Nicola Stapleton) stepson, Miles De Souza, the son of Nicola’s late millionaire husband, Donald.
Joe is said to be the brother who is always looking out for his younger siblings, the Jacqui McQueen of the Roscoe family if you like!
Cast as middle son, David “Ziggy” Roscoe, is Fabrizio Santino who is described as a bit of a charmer as well as being “confident and hilariously vain”.
Ziggy will prove a big hit with the ladies, but is said to fall in and out of love rather quickly.
Alfie Browne-Sykes has been cast to play Robbie’s twin brother, Jason Roscoe.
Completely different from Robbie in every aspect, Jason intelligent and has a promising life ahead of him. However, he has a strong bond with his twin, and covers his tracks for him whenever he can.
Speaking of her return to the soap world, Taylforth commented to Digital Spy: “Everyone at Hollyoaks has made all the Roscoe family members feel very welcome and I am really looking forward to the viewers seeing us all on screen for the first time. There is never a dull moment when the Roscoes are around!”
