As we reported earlier this week, there is set to be a happy ever after fro Dennis Savage later this month when the love of his life, Leanne Holiday finally accepts his hand in marriage.
Fans of the award-winning Channel 4 soap will know how Leanne (Jessica Forrest) is currently behind bars awaiting trial for the murder of her best friend, Texas Longford (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove).
However, when Anna Savage is later arrested, and (falsely) confesses to the murder, the young student and hopeless romantic is set free, straight into the arms of her nearest and dearest friend, Dennis (Joe Tracini).
Of course we all know that Dennis has been in love with Leanne forever, but always unrequitedly, but that is all about to change.
Having always turned him down in the past, Leanne is set to look at the loveable clown in a different light after her stint in prison especially after he has been campaigning for her freedom ever since returning to the village and discovering what has happened.
Realising that his love for her is true, and that he is the only person who always had faith in her Leanne happily accepts when he proposes to her next week, and finally together at the last the happy couple begin planning their wedding.
However, despite his character being desperately happy at the prospect of finally getting his girl, Joe Tracini who plays Dennis is sceptical about Leanne’s reasons for changing her mind.
Talking to Digital Spy the actor, whose father is legendary British comic Joe Pasquale, explained:
“Obviously Dennis loves Leanne and he has done for a long time. The main turning point is that Leanne has seen Dennis go to such a big effort to get her out of prison, when for the past two years she hasn’t wanted much to do with him. When she comes out of prison, Leanne also says how much she’s been thinking about Dennis. Basically she expresses a light interest and Dennis says, ‘Well you might as well marry me, then!’ He doesn’t hang about and it’s a lovely little scene.
“I also have to say that I’m delighted to be working with Jess [Forrest, who plays Leanne] again. I was really lucky when I joined the show and they put me with her, because we get along so well. I also think she’s a brilliant actress. I’ve been watching the prison stuff recently and thought she was fantastic.”
But, despite the fact that he doesn’t think Leanne will change her mind this time like she has done so often in the past, Tracini can’t help but feel her heart isn’t as in it as Dennis':
“Leanne herself is different this time round after everything that’s happened to her, and I think she feels a level of safety around Dennis. Also, Dennis has grown up a bit as well. He’s still awkward and a bit of an idiot, but he has matured a bit.
“The main thing is that Dennis and Leanne make each other better people, and they both see that. Leanne also sees that while everyone else around her has been so inconsistent, Dennis will always be there for her. I think there’s a level of settling there as well, to be honest with you. Leanne decides she’s been in the village for two years and hasn’t had much luck with men, so Dennis will do!”
