Original Hollyoaks star, Nick Pickard, has revealed that he believes his character might well end up with the mother of his unborn twins, Diane O’Connor.
Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how Nick’s character Tony Hutchinson engaged in a one night stand with Diane (Alex Fletcher) whilst still pinning for love of his life Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper).
Ready to up sticks and leave with Jacqui last week, Tony was stunned to learn that his encounter with Diane had left her in the family way, despite being told previously that she wasn’t able to have kids.
Tony did the right thing and stayed in the village to be there for his child, but the pair are set to get an even bigger shock next month when a scan reveals that they are expecting two babies, not just one!
This coupled with the fact that he is about to find out he has testicular cancer means that the next few months are going to pretty stressful for Tiny but, as Nick Pickard has explained, it might not be all doom and gloom – there might be some romance on the cards too!
Speaking to Inside Soap about Tony’s relationship with Diane, Pickard said: “I think there is a sense of responsibility there. He opens his home to them because it is the right thing to do.
“It may not necessarily be what he wants at the time, but he still does it! Hopefully from this point onwards, he and Diane might even be able to make something blossom out of these circumstances.”
On the subject of his cancer, the actor, who has played Tony since the show first began, explained how Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) becomes a rock to him in his hour of need:
“We’re filming the operation scenes at the moment, and its interesting finding out how this affects other characters.
“Tony confides in Darren initially, and although they’ve had a love-hate relationship in the past, Darren’s still supportive.
“I’ve got some great stuff with Ashley Taylor Dawson and also Steph Waring – even Cindy comes out of the woodwork! All these people really do care about Tony and are by his side.”
Hollyoaks can be seen weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD
