As we reported yesterday, an explosion that rips through the village of Hollyoaks is set to rock the residents’ lives forever, and now it has been confirmed that 5 main characters will lose their lives as a result of it.
The explosion, which is the biggest stunt in the shows history, is a result of a homemade bomb stolen by Sinead O’Connor who thinks it is a bag full of cash belonging to her former pimp, Trevor Royle (Greg Wood).
The bomb has been hidden in the bag by evil Clare DeVine (Gemma Bissix) who has escaped from prison and is hell-bent on blowing up the Loft nightclub whilst Mercedes is inside celebrating her 30th birthday.
Sinead takes the bag containing the bomb with her to a house party being held by Ste (Kieron Richardson) and Doug (PJ Brennan),but when Trevor finds the detonator a struggle between him and Clare erupts, during which he warns her that people will die, but that seems to be what she wants as she presses the button and the blast sweeps through Ste’s flat and the neighbouring flat where the Kane family lives, threatening the lives of several main characters.
And now it has been revealed that a total of 5 people will die as a result of the blast.
Those listed as in danger are Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) , Carmel (Gemma Merna), John Paul (James Sutton), Theresa (Jorgie Porter), Clare (Gemma Bissix), Trevor, Ste, Doug, Sinead, Leanne (Jessica Forrest), Dennis (Joe Tracini) and Darren (Ashley Taylor-Dawson).
Also in danger are Will (James Atherton), his brother Dodger (Danny Mac)and girlfriend Ash Kane (Holly Weston) but for possibly different reasons as we reported earlier today Dodger walks in on Will trying to kill Ash moments before the blast.
Meanwhile it has been confirmed that two more characters are set to lose their lives over on this weeks late night spin-off, Hollyoaks Later, yet no further details have been released.
However, our powers of deduction leave us to believe that of all the cast currently involved in Hollyoaks Later, Theresa McQueen is safe from the death toll there as she is listed as being in danger when the blast hits next week, which leaves possible corpses being Tilly Evans (Lucy Dixon), Esther Bloom (Jazmine Franks), Callum Kane (Laurie Duncan), Holly Cunningham (Wallis Day) or Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard).
As Nick Pickard is the shows longest serving actor we can’t see him being written off in a late night show that not all viewers will be watching, so think that safely rules Tony out, and Wallis Day who plays Holly Cunningham has revealed that she has quit but that another actress has been cast to play her, so that rules Holly out too.
Hollyoaks have always been good at bridging the gap between the original series and the Later spin-off, always making sure you can watch one without the other, so our money on the two late night deaths is on Tony’s returning friend and brother, Finn (James Redmond) and Dom (John Pickard), or the weird new student Jade who no one really cares about yet. We shall see.
As for the explosion casualties, our money is on Ash being one of them, probably at the hands of Will, which means that either he or Dodger is likely to be another, as well as either Dennis or Leanne as they are about to get married and we know how Hollyoaks likes to spoil weddings, and Theresa for reasons we are not too sure of right now!
Watch all the drama unfold in Hollyoaks Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16 at 6.30pm on Channel 4 / Channel 4 HD and Hollyoaks Later can be seen every night this week on E4 at 10pm.
