Theresa McQueen’s past comes back to haunt her in the New Year in Hollyoaks, when the brother of the man she murdered returns to the village, threatening to expose her secret.
Fans of the award-winning Channel 4 soap will remember how, back in 2010 Theresa (Jorgie Porter) shot dead Calvin (Ricky Whittle) on his wedding day to her cousin, Carmel (Gemma Merna).
The McQueen family have kept Theresa’s secret ever since, but as we have seen over the last few months Carmel’s resentment has been mounting and is set to explode with dramatic consequences in the upcoming storyline which will see Jorgie Porter, the actress who plays Theresa, leave the show for good.
Having been left infertile after contracting an sti from Calvin who got it from Theresa, Carmel has become obsessed with getting her hands on a child.
With all other options exhausted, Carmel decides that the best child to have would be the love child of Theresa and Calvin, Kathleen-Angel, especially after deciding that Theresa is an unfit mother.
Carmel decides to recruit help with her plan to get the child away from Theresa after the young mum demonstrates more irresponsible behaviour, and calls Calvin’s brother, Sonny (Aaron Fontaine), not realising that he is a policeman now.
When Sonny arrives, still upset over his brother’s death, the McQueens face the realisation that Theresa is in serious danger of being caught and decide the best thing to do is to help her flee the village, and the country for good.
Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) sorts out the escape plan and takes her cousin to the airport, but with producers remaining tight-lipped about the outcome, will Theresa be leaving via plane, or police car?
