Ever since the Roscoe’s first arrived on our Hollyoaks screens last year, drama has engulfed the family like never before.
Having been through the loss of their father, the five Roscoe boys share a very deep and special bond, but there is always one thing that threatens to destroy that – Women!
So far, we have seen Robbie (Charlie Wernham) commit the unforgivable sin of sleeping with his brother Freddie’s wife, Sinead (Stephanie Waring) – But Freddie didn’t mind so much, because he is secretly in love with his other brother, Joe’s fiancé Lindsey anyway!
The hold that Lindsey (Sophie Austin) has over Freddie (Charlie Clapham) has always been apparent to fans of the award-winning Channel 4 soap, with many of them routing for them to get together.
And they currently have the perfect opportunity to become a couple as Joe (Ayden Callaghan) has recently departed the village after Lindsey confessed her part in the murder of Dr Browning – Or so she thinks.
Having already shared a kiss, we wondered just what the future may hold for Lindsey and Freddie, so who better to ask than Sophie Austin, the actress who plays Lindsey!
Unreality TV caught up with the actress to get all the goss on Lindsey and Freddie EXCLUSIVELY for you:
“I have always been rallying for Joe and Lindsey to be honest, because the fact is they have this past and a lot has gone on between them which hasn’t really been shown as much in Hollyoaks, obviously the Freddie and Lindsey storyline has been a lot bigger.
“But I think the way I perceive Lindsey’s character is that at the moment she is totally confused. She absolutely adores Freddie, and sees him as her best friend, but I think there are parts of him that she wishes Joe could be more like but Joe has been her fella for so long and is her hero.
“But I think that now he has gone away, some feelings that have laid dormant in her have started to come out a bit, and I think that is quite painful for her because she does love Joe, but she has this love for Freddie as well.
“This is just a really confusing time for her because while Joe is away, it is allowing these feelings for Freddie to manifest and become bigger, and it’s a bit of a mess really. She absolutely adores both brothers but there are so many different layers to the situation and she is in a bit of a jumble trying to work out if she really does have feelings for Freddie, or if it is just because Joe is away she feels closer to him.
“I don’t know what is going to happen with them in the future, I haven’t been told yet, which I prefer, but my opinion is that she does have feelings for Freddie it is just so confusing for her with the situation with Joe.”
But we wanted to know if Sophie could see a future for Lindsey and Freddie, should they get together:
“I don’t know, I think that would be a really hard one. I never like to say anything until I see it in the script really, but I think it would be a really interesting relationship.
“I think a relationship with Freddie would bring out a different side to Lindsey, but it would obviously cause a lot of friction in the family, which would be quite sad as Lindsey is so close to them all having lived with them for so long.
“I don’t know what good would come out of that, I imagine it would be a very stressful situation. But it would be interesting, I love working with Charlie (Clapham who plays Freddie) – there is never a dull moment.”
However, one thing that may put Lindsey off Freddie for life would be if she found out the truth behind Joe’s disappearance, which is that Freddie has been the one sending the texts ending the relationship because Joe is actually dead, which Sophie believes would not go down well with the Roscoes at all:
“I think Lindsey, the whole family in fact, would be devastated. Lindsey would be absolutely heartbroken and would see red straight away.
“The pain that she has been put through because of this – The searching, the questions, the fact that she has been made to believe that this is all her fault – This would just destroy her.
“I think given time she could maybe learn to see why Freddie did it, but I think that because she put so much trust in him, and they care so much about each other, there could be no way to get over that.
“It would be hard for the rest of the family as well after all they have been through already – It would just be a really hard situation to unfold.”
