We could tell back in Dublin that Ste Hay and John-Paul McQueen weren’t like to become Hollyoaks newest BFF’s any time soon, and if reports in today’s Daily Star are anything to go by, we were right!
Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how Ste (Keiron Richardson) ran into John-Paul (James Sutton) in his, now, boyfriend, Brendan Brady’s (Emmett J. Scanlan) hotel bed when arriving in Ireland to surprise him by declaring his undying love.
The incident seemed to have been forgotten, but in an upcoming storyline Ste’s jealousy is set to spill over, but this time not over Brendan – but over Doug!
Doug Carter (PJ Brennan) encouraged new husband Ste to follow his heart and be with Brendan, despite the fact that they were about to fly off to a new life together in America.
Since then Ste and Brendan have lived happily in domestic bliss, but when Doug arrived back in the village there was definitely a slight sad look in Ste’s eye when encountering the one that got away.
And when Doug starts a budding new friendship with John-Paul, Ste sees red and reverts to his old, violent ways as he grabs a bin lid to hit John-Paul with in the sixth form corridor, causing Doug to have to wade in to break up the fight.
Things get even more tense between the two when, later, Doug locks himself out of the Deli with John-Paul rushing to his rescue, causing Ste’s temper to flare up even more!
A Hollyoaks insider said: “John Paul’s friendship with Doug really seems to wind Ste up.”
Watch the drama unfold a week on Thursday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 / Channel 4 HD.
