Hollyoaks have revealed an exciting new who-dunnit mystery which will see one of its favourite characters murdered leaving the whole village, and viewing public, asking “Who killed Texas?”
Hollyoaks are renowned for their mystery who-dunnit storylines, and their most recent examples between them had the whole country guessing for almost a year, with no one finding out the truth until it was revealed on-screen, making the drama even more enjoyable.
Most recently we were left wondering for nearly five months who slept with Sinead, as well as wondering why it was so relevant, until the truth came crashing, literally, through our screens at the double wedding ceremony of Ste Hay and Doug Carter and Cindy Cunningham and Tony Hutchins.
Sinead (Stephanie Davis) had been having issues with her wayward boyfriend, Bart McQueen (Johnny Clarke) who constantly put drugs before her. After being stood up by the stone-head yet again, Sinead made the very uncharacteristic decision to console herself in the arms of a mystery man upstairs during the Kane family house party.
Viewers were not privy to the identity of her one-night-stand, but a list of suspects soon circulated, naming around half the male residents of Hollyoaks.
No sooner had the scenes aired, the who-dunnit was put on a back burner, never to be mentioned again until the epic Enjoy The Ride storyline made everything a little clearer as it brought to light the fact that Sinead’s brief encounter had left her pregnant with the mystery man’s baby, who turned out to be Rhys Ashworth who perished in the wedding day bus crash.
Before that there was the shocking, and surprising death of Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan), which was discovered by Brendan Brady (Emmett J Scanlan) strangled on the sofa of the flat they shard. Lynsey’s murderer was left at large for the best part of half a year, with speculation mounting daily as to who could have killed the Irish nurse. As with everything Hollyoaks does, the secret was kept as tight-lipped as the exit of Hassan herself, until it was finally revealed that her killer was in fact Dr Browning (Joseph Thompson).
Now it is the turn of Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove to join the impressive Hollyoaks who-dunnit hall of fame, as her character, Texas Longford’s murder during her own wedding in an upcoming storyline is set to have us all guessing and speculating like mad once again.
Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how Texas ended up in bed with Will Savage (James Atherton) after believing that her boyfriend, Will’s brother Dodger (Danny Mac) was cheating on her. Will, who knew that actually the girl Texas suspected as being the other woman was in fact Dodger’s twin sister, used her vulnerability to his advantage, leaving Texas feeling so guilty and angry when she found out the truth she decided to leave to start a new life in America.
However, she soon returned when she realised that Dodger meant too much to her not to fight for, but just as it looked like Dodger was going to forgive and forget, Will exposed their one-night-stand for everyone to hear, splitting Texas and Dodger up for good.
This caused an angry confrontation between him and Texas which took a sinister twist when, while Texas’ back was turned, Will threw himself down a flight of metal stairs, leaving him paralysed, and leaving Texas believing it was her fault.
Since being released from hospital Will’s manipulation over Texas has continued and later this year fans will see it intensify dramatically when he uses her guilt to get her to agree to marry him!
However, on the big day itself fans will be left open mouthed asking who-dunnit when Texas Longford is pushed from a window, plummeting to her untimely death.
A show source commented: “There’s a while to go before Texas and Will’s big day arrives, and as the Hollyoaks fans already know, we have some new characters on the way. Any one of them could end up with a motive to kill Texas.”
Obviously one of the main suspects is Will himself, especially as the actor who plays him, James Atherton revealed that his character is about to get even darker, commenting last month:
“Will’s dark side is going to spiral completely out of control. We’ll have to see how much he can get away with. He used to be such a sweet bookish character, but that weird side was always there. We might have a new Silas on our hands!”
However, with many a free killer on the loose, and quite a few motives floating about, we thought we would explore other options in this case, after all, it wouldn’t be much of a who-dunnit with just one suspect now, would it?
Dodger Savage (Danny Mac)
We don’t think this is very likely (which actually means he is probably prime suspect number one knowing how devious Hollyoaks writer can be), but on paper Dodger has the most reason to want to hurt both Texas and Will. Having been betrayed by both, what better way for them both to pay than by killing Texas and taking away his brothers true obsession?
Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter)
Will’s ex-girlfriend, and Dodger’s new friend with benefits, Theresa is quite clearly more into Dodger than he is to her. Nothing has been revealed about the lead up to the wedding or the murder, but if it were to include a last night or kiss between Texas and Dodger, this would put Theresa’s nose out of joint on two counts, one being jealousy and two being a misguided loyalty towards Will. But is she evil enough to kill someone? Just ask Calvin Valentine – oh wait, you can’t, she already killed him!
Sienna Blake (Anna Passey)
Dodger’s twin sister, making her Will and liberty’s half-sister, she has only ever shown an interest in Dodger, and an unhealthy and sometimes creepy one at that. Sienna knew about Will and Texas but kept it to herself, not wanting Dodger to get hurt, but if things are set to get even more complicated in the love triangle, will she kill to protect her twin?
Anna Savage (Saskia Wickham)
We reported earlier this week that the missing Savage/Blake matriarch is due to make an appearance in the village. We already know by past reports that the absent mother is a bit unhinged, so we doubt she will take kindly to the disruption Texas has caused between her two sons, but will she be prepared to kill to fix the situation? Well, Sienna and Will have to have got their weirdness from somewhere!
Will Savage (James Atherton)
At a quick glance Will seems like the prime suspect. He has already shown how wicked and devious he can be after his manipulation of Texas, and has shown certain sociopathic tendencies after making Silas Blissett his role model and study, even to the point of following out orders from the crazed serial killer. However, Texas’ death is a result of being pushed out of a window which somewhat clears Will on two points. One, he is paralysed so would not physically be able to push anyone, anywhere. And two, in order for her fall to be fatal, Texas would have to have been pushed from at least one floor up, which requires the murderer walking up stairs, something that Will and his wheelchair are incapable of doing. That said though we wouldn’t be at all surprised if it turned out that Will had regained feeling in his legs and kept it to himself, relishing the attention, and aiding his plan to guilt trip Texas into becoming his wife. If that was the case, maybe she found out and called off the wedding, who knows – we certainly wouldn’t put it past him.
And finally, whilst Will and Dodger have the main obvious motives, and all the others we have named are looking pretty suspicious too, there is still one person we haven’t mentioned, one person who has already tried to kill Texas before and failed.
Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle)
Silas has had issues with Texas ever since he accidentally killed two people, one of which was his own daughter, mistaking them for her. And when Lynsey was murdered, another person he was desperate to rid the planet of, his obsession with Texas intensified as he proved by luring her into yet another game of cat and mouse during the investigation. Silas, as fans will know, is currently on the run from police having broken free from his hospital room in a secured unit. His first act of freedom was to hold Texas hostage for a day before letting her go telling her that he didn’t want to kill her, then! So we know he hasn’t finished in his mission, and if he knows about Texas recent situation may well decide to pick up where he left off.
Will’s not looking so likely now, is he?
So, in conclusion, after examining all the evidence, our money is on……
Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
