Well we knew that Danny Lomax had a few suitcases of skeletons with him when he turned up in Hollyoaks, but even we didn’t see this coming!
Danny (Stephen Billington) arrived in the village last month as a supply teacher for the sixth form college.
After winning over headmaster Patrick Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) he has now secured a full time position at Hollyoaks SF as well as landing himself a full time relationship with English teacher John Paul McQueen (James Sutton).
It was at this point we were warned that the hunky teach came with a few surprises, but we were still shocked when it turned out that he was Ste Hay’s (Kieron Richardson) long lost father.
Then came the news that there would be quite possibly the most uncomfortable love triangle in soap history when Danny would turn to Ste (unaware of their family connection) as a distraction and way to make John Paul jealous when he thinks that has gone off him.
However, we are to be spared the cringe fest as Danny ducks out of a one night stand with Ste at the last minute, but just when you thought it was to exhale again, there is more!
Last night’s first look E4 viewers would have seen the shocking arrival of Sam Lomax, Danny’s wife!!!!!
Bosses at the award-winning Channel 4 soap decided to keep the casting of Lizzie Roper a secret in order to make the arrival of Sam as big a surprise as possible, and it has worked!
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Roper commented: “I’m having a ball after joining one of the friendliest casts. I’m so lucky getting to play Sam: one moment she’s fun and feisty starting food fights, the next she’s facing up to gangsters and doing everything she can to bring them to justice.
“She’s not afraid of anything and has got a heart of gold, but when it comes to her family she’s a lioness – don’t mess with her!”
Sam is set to embark on a huge storyline in Hollyoaks whilst her husband, Danny, tries desperately to keep his secret sexuality and boyfriend from her.
Things are set to get even more complicated for the drama teacher when his daughter, Ste’s half-sisters(including former Emmerdale actress Kirsty-Leigh Porter) turn up later in the year too!
Lizzie Roper’s previous credits include Dead Boss, Shameless, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road.
Watch all the drama unfold in tonight’s Hollyoaks at 6.30pm on Channel 4 / Channel 4 HD.
