Hollyoaks actor Nico Mirallegro has revealed that he’s landed a role in a film.

Nico, who plays Barry ‘Newt’ Newton in the show, has recently finished filming his last scenes for the Chester based soap.

Speaking to the PA about his role in the movie, Nico said, “It’s about suburban life in Manchester in the 90s.

“It’s a good cast and it should be really good.”

Nico’s co-stars in the film include Waterloo Road actors Tina O’Brien and Linzey Cocker, as well as Shameless actor, Ciaran Griffiths.

Since he completed filming for Hollyoaks, Nico has begun filming nine episodes of Doctors, in which he’ll play an Italian exchange student called Giovanni Mannasorri, who will date the character of Imogen.

Nico said that he was having a great time on the set of Doctors, and added, “Everyone’s nice and friendly and makes you feel dead welcome.”
