This won’t be surprising news to Hollyoaks fans, but it’s been revealed today Stephanie Davis has been offered a new contract to continue playing the role of Sinead Roscoe.
Davis has played the role of Sinead for the last four years, and has gone from strength to strength as she’s developed this complex character into one of Hollyoaks’ all-time greats in front of our very eyes.
During her time in the show, the 21 year old actress has been involved in some huge storylines, including the bullying of Esther Bloom (Jazmine Franks), the Enjoy The Ride double wedding day disaster and, most recently, the death of Sinead’s young daughter, Katy.
It was the misdiagnosis of Katy which saw Social Services take her away from Sinead, leaving the young mum heartbroken and Davis delivering some of the most emotionally charged and spectacularly played scenes we have ever seen.
So amazing was she that Davis was nominated for in the category of Best Actress at this year’s British Soap Awards, but while she did not pick this particular prize up on the night, no-one can deny that she has more than contributed to the fact that Hollyoaks picked up the most prestigious of awards, Best Soap.
So it’s no wonder then that the powers that be over at Lime Pictures want to make sure they keep Stephanie very much a part of Hollyoaks, and as mentioned above, have offered the star – who is dating her on-screen husband Charlie Clapham who plays Freddie Roscoe – a new long-term contract to make sure she stays put!
A show source is quoted by The Daily Star newspaper as saying: “Steph is popular and talented. They [the show’s bosses] made sure she re-signed on a long-term contract.
“They have some big plans for Sinead over the next couple of years.
“The place is still buzzing after winning Best Soap.”
Meanwhile, Stephanie remarked: “I’m very happy at Hollyoaks. Sinead’s been through so much, and there’s more to come.”
We’re sure you will join in us in sending congratulations to Stephanie and, more of course in congratulating Hollyoaks bosses for keeping her!
