Hollyoaks fans were left open-mouthed after yesterday’s espisode as in a shocking storyline twist, suspected by no one, Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan) was found dead by Brendan Brady (Emmett J Scanalan).

It’s the biggest surprise for the show this year, and is set to be a whodunnit storyline to keep us all guessing for quite some time, but Unreality TV presents you with all the evidence so you can make your own mind up as to who killed Lynsey!

Lynsey Nolan first appeared as a Hollyoaks Later cast member before moving to the main soap in 2010. Since joining the cast Lynsey, the stubborn girl-next-door best friend of Cheryl (Bronagh Waugh) has been involved in some the hardest hitting storylines the soap has seen, including, most notably, the cat and mouse game she played with serial killer Silas Blisett (Jeff Rawle).

However, her more recent activities have included a brief relationship with her best friends ex, Riley (Rob Norbury), investigating the dodgy dealings of Walker (Neil Newbon) and Ally (Daniel O’Connor) and discovering that Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalf) has been stalking Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton).

That leaves quite a few suspects to be questioned after her body was discovered dead on the sofa by Brendan:

Sampson

Sampson is the person with whom Brendan has just gone into battle with after the stabbing and kidnapping of Joel (Andrew Still). His last words before the murder were that he was going to make Brady pay for attacking him after the stabbing whilst he was last seen watching Lynsey leave the house that she shares with his arch nemesis.

Walker

Walker has been bad news since he first appeared on our screens earlier this year. An old acquaintance of Brendan’s, he quite obviously had something over the terrifying Irish man, made apparent by Brendan’s bend over backwards attitude towards him. He was the person responsible for the deal that went wrong resulting in Joel’s near death experience, yet Brendan still welcomed him back into the business and even began a relationship with him when he returned to the village a few weeks ago. Lynsey had become suspicious of Walker in recent weeks and shared these concerns with Brendan. In a recent episode Walker had made a suggestion about getting closer to Lynsey which resulted in Brendan attacking him, making it very clear how much she meant to him.

Ally Grogan

The usually mild-mannered Australian boyfriend of Amy (Ashley Slanina-Davies), caught the attention of Lynsey when she witnessed a confrontation between him and Walker and started asking him questions he wasnt comfortable answering. Walker made it very clear to Ally that he did not want people to know anything about him when he recently revealed he knew him previously, and even snatched one of Amy’s kids to make the point that bit more clear. Ally is very obviously shaken by this, and extremely intimidated by Walker, so Lynsey’s repeated pecking at him for information must have really put him on edge.

Mercedes McQueen

Lynsey and Mercedes have become best friends despite the fact that Lynsey had been in a secret relationship with Mercy’s ex, Riley. Whilst viewers could see how calculated her actions were over the discovery of the relationship and her part in the subsequent break up, Lynsey seemed totally oblivious to her un-hinged friends motives. However, that all changed in the episode of her death when she made the discovery that Mercedes was Mitzeee’s stalker, and Mercedes is well aware that Lynsey is not one to stand in the way of justice. Could Mercedes, who with Mitzeee behind bars for her stabbing, an injury she inflicted on herself, Mercy is closer than she has ever been to getting Riley back, but one word from Lynsey would bring her house of cards tumbling down. Mercedes was last seen being discharged and dropped home from hospital, in an almighty rush.

Silas Blissett

The return of murderer Silas Blissett, who Lynsey had sent to prison for his killing and kidnapping spree, was announced by Channel 4 last week, and we all know he holds a grudge against Lynsey for being caught, not to mention blaming her for the death of his daughter, who he murdered believing her to be Lynsey. Could his return at the same time as her death just be an unfortunate coincidence? His sinister return promo certainly suggests he has unfinished business on his mind !

Will Savage

The least likely of the suspects in our opinion, but a suspect no less as Will (James Atherton) has been named as one of the prime suspects, although not seriously enough to warrant an interrogation video, but apparently in a scene not long before Lynsey was discovered dead she walked in front of Will whilst he was taking a picture. Thats pretty much it, our money isn’t on him!

Speaking to Digital Spy about her exit, Hassan said: “The past two years have been fantastic, the Silas storyline was amazing. I’m still haunted by it and people mention it everywhere I go.”

The Silas the serial killer story ran for almost a year and earned Karen a nomination for the Best Actress Award at the British Soap Awards.

“It was absolutely amazing to be nominated for such an important award, it just shows that Hollyoaks can still pack a punch when it comes to the soaps” the actress said.

“I was getting work after university, I was in Over the Bridge at the Waterfront Hall actually when I got the Hollyoaks job. I’ve been in such a privileged position over the last few years. I’m really lucky.”

On filming her final scenes Karen said: “I’m so sad about it, I’m gutted to be leaving but it was great fun doing those final scenes, it was so intense. My mum can’t even watch the final episode, she was in tears.”

Lynsey’s death has been a well guarded secret, with Hassan’s departure being shielded from the media so that when he lifeless body was discovered it hit everyone like a ton of bricks out of the blue. Desperate to keep the secret Hassan, who filmed her final scenes a few weeks ago, even postponed her leaving do until after the scene was aired on Channel4 so as not to let the cat out of the bag. However, according to wikipedia, she is quoted as revealing her murder to be…..Mercedes!!!!!!!!!!
