Ian Wright, Kirsty Gallagher and Patsy Palmer on Jonathan Ross

Tonight on BBC One’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, Ian Wright, appearing with Gladiators co-presenter Kirsty Gallagher, gives his views on the state of English football:

“Fabio Capello is very good, hopefully he’ll knock our boys into shape and [show] how much they can inspire people when they play well.

“There are more distractions for footballers at the moment, I question their love of the game. If you love the game first, everything else will come.

“The bling is the most important thing at the moment. They need to be focusing and playing football and inspiring, that’s what it’s all about.”

Also on the show, Patsy Palmer says she is delighted to return to EastEnders: “I said I couldn’t imagine myself going back, I was scared [but] when they asked me I thought yes, go back to work.

“Sid [Owen] and I are really good friends, we laugh all day. I don’t mind whether they [Bianca and Ricky] get back together, I don’t know if they will.”

She reveals her dream role is to play Nancy in Oliver! and sings for Jonathan: “I knew Lionel Bart very well, he used to come round for tea. I’ll be Nancy, Sid will be Bill Sykes – they should get us on.”

Mackenzie Crook says he’s happy that there have been three Pirates Of The Caribbean but there may be a fourth: “I’m sure they won’t leave it, in a few years’ time they might think about another one.”

And Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds perform live in the studio.
