Is ITV Overstocked With Programmes But Very Few Quality Productions

ITV executive chairman, Michael Grade, has claimed that the channel is currently overstocked with too many shows.
Grade blamed the problem on the gap in time between ideas being greenlit and the completion of production, The Mirror reports.
Grade said: “Because of the lead times of programmes, someone walking in with an idea then actually delivering the film can sometimes be three years, then we may not transmit it for another year.
“We’re overstocked given the economic climate and need to reduce the amount we carry.”
This is one more example of ITV’s inefficiency and an indicator that things need to change in a big way with the channel. If they are so ‘overstocked’ then why do we have so few quality shows coming forward. If Demons and Britannia High are the best they have to offer then their problems are about to get worse instead of better.
