Katy Perry wasn’t due to release her new single ‘Roar’ until the 8th of September but for whatever reason she decided to release it a full week early for fans in the UK.
‘Roar’ is taken from her forthcoming album ‘Prism’ which is due for release worldwide on the 22nd of October. Other countries have already been able to get their hands on ‘Roar’ and it was unknown as to why the UK was left so late.
Katy Perry recently closed the MTV VMAs and is due to close The iTunes Festival at the end of September with material from her new album ‘Prism’ and a performance of her new single ‘Roar’.
It was also revealed yesterday that the official music video for ‘Roar’ would be released on the 5th of September.
In a poster released by the star on Twitter Katy Perry can be seen in a jungle setting surrounded by some jungle creatures.
At midnight last night Katy Perry took to Twitter to announce that for UK fans ‘Roar’ was now available.

Since the track has been released it has already stormed the iTunes Chart and at present ‘Roar’ is sitting at Number (1) while ‘Applause’ by Lady Gaga sits at Number (6). This however could all change after Lady Gaga performs at the iTunes Festival tonight.
Katy Perry also spoke about her upcoming album ‘Prism’ recently in an interview with MTV.
“There’s not really any darkness on the record,” the star said. “There’s definitely some textures and colours but I think I was saying that when I was going through a different phase, but I really let that light in.
“The reason why I called this record Prism is because I actually finally let the light in and then I was able to create all these songs that were inspired by letting the light in and doing some self-reflection and just kind of working on myself.
“I felt very prismatic because of that; I feel like now I get to show these songs off and share these songs with the listeners and it’s almost like I get to beam the colours that I’ve experienced out from me.”
