iTunes Festival 2013 Day 11 Preview: Kings of Leon hit the stage

The iTunes Festival is definitely well underway and US rockers Kings of Leon will be at the iTunes Festival tonight.

Following on from Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga, Rizzle Kicks and Bastille, Kings of Leon take to the stage at the Roundhouse in London at 9pm on the 11th day of the annual festival.

Kings of Leon first way back in 1999 in Nashville, Tennessee. The band consists of brothers Anthony Caleb Followill (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Ivan Nathan Followill (drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Michael Jared Followill (bass guitar, backing vocals).

Finally their cousin Cameron Matthew Followill (lead guitar, backing vocals) is also a member of the band.

In the UK Kings of Leon have so far had nine Top 40 singles and all three of their albums at the time had peaked in the Top 5 of the Official Albums Chart. In 2008 the band won two BRIT Awards.

The third album by Kings of Leon ‘Because of the Times’ reached Number 1. When the band released ‘Only by the Night’ in September of 2008 the band had chart success in the US.

Singles ‘Use Somebody’, ‘Notion’ and ‘Sex on Fire’ all reached Number one on the ‘Hot Modern Rock Tracks’ chart. The album was their first to go platinum in the US and in Australia it was the best-selling album of 2008.

Kings of Leon released their fifth album ‘Come Around Sundown’ in 2010 and their sixth album titled ‘Mechanical Bull’ is due to be released on the 24th of September 2013.

Before Kings of Leon take to the stage tonight at the iTunes Festival (at 9pm) the band will be supported by Jimmy Eat World at 7:45pm.

Jimmy Eat World (pictured above) are an American rock band that formed back in 1993. The band are lead vocalist and guitaris Jim Adkins, guitarist and backing vocalist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch and Zach Lind is on drums.

Jimmy Eat World have released eight studio albums as of June 2013 with seven of them featuring the current lineup.

Mitch Porter was previously the bassist for Jimmy Eat World from 1993-1995.

While the band have been around since 1993 their break through came with 2001 album ‘Bleed American’ where four singles from the album featured within the top 20 of the ‘Hot Modern Rock Tracks’ chart.

The bands most recent album ‘Damage’ was released on the 11th of June 2013 and reached Number 38 in the UK Albums chart and Number 14 in the US Billboard 200.

Jimmy Eat World will take to the stage at 7:45pm tonight before Kings of Leon rock the iTunes Festival at 9pm.
