The iTunes Festival returns tonight with English rapper Tinie Tempah taking to the stage. Including today there are only five more nights of the festival left for this year.
So while Tinie Tempah (and Naughty Boy) will play tonight we still have Dizzee Rascal (and Katy B), John Legend (and Tamar Braxton), Justin Timberlake (and Mikky Ekko) and finally Katy Perry (with Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea) still to take to the stage at the Roundhouse in London.
Tinie Tempah first shot to fame when he released his debut single ‘Pass Out’ in February 2010. The track entered the Official Singles Chart at Number 1 and managed to sell just over 92,000 copies in its first week on sale.
Those sales figures kept up as Tinie Tempah managed to hold on to the second spot for a second week with the hit. In June 2010 he performed ‘Pass Out’ on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury with Snoop Dogg.
Tempah then went on to announce his second single ‘Frisky’ with was released just before the Glastonbury performance but only managed to reach Number 2 in the Official Singles Chart.
While Tinie himself is still young (at just 24) he’s supported some of the biggest names and performed at some of the biggest festivals including supporting Rihanna for four days on her tour with Pixie Lott and Tinchy Stryder.
He has also performed at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, Wakestock, Glastonbury and T in the Park (the list goes on).
Tinie Tempah released his third single (taken from his debut album ‘Discovery’) ‘Written in the Stars’ on the 19th of September 2010. The track hit Number 1 in the Official Singles Chart and sold a staggering 115,000 copies in its first week. This was the stars biggest selling single so far.
‘Written in the Stars’ also went on to chart relatively high in other countries and is still hugely popular.
In October 2010 Tinie released his long-awaited debut album ‘Discovery’ which featured all his previous singles including ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ which he teamed up with Swedish House Mafia for.
Tinie Tempah began work on his second studio album by the end of 2010 and was intended to have a late 2011 release.
He spoke about the second album in an interview and said: “I always like to work with different people on each project I do, just so you get a different sound and angle. I will be working with some of the same people I did for the first album, you know what they say ‘if it ain’t broke then don’t try and fix it’.”
Tinie Tempah has won numerous awards and his success continues to grow with each thing he does. He premiered his first single ‘Trampoline’ from the new album ‘Demonstration’ on the 2nd of July 2013 which featured 2 Chainz.
‘Demonstrations’ will be released on the 4th of November 2013 and the second single ‘Children of the Sun’ which features John Martin was played on BBC Radio 1 on the 12th of September on Zane Lowe’s show.
While Tinie Tempah is due to hit the stage from 9pm ‘Naught Boy’ will be opening the night from 7:45pm.
