It’s Monday the 1st of September and it’s that time for the iTunes Festival to get underway.
The festival takes place at the Roundhouse in London and will run from tonight until the end of the month with a host of different acts and this evening, it’s deadmau5 who will open the event.
Each day we’re going to have a short preview up about each artist, ranging from the major and globally famous artists, to the lesser known singers. Allow us to fill you in on why they’re worth watching too.
Tonight at 9:30pm Canadian DJ Joel Zimmerman, better known by his stage name of deadmau5 (pronounced ‘dead mouse’) will kick off the iTunes Festival 2014.
While deadmau5 perhaps isn’t as popular in the charts as counterparts Calvin Harris or Avicii, if you like their style of music, you definitely don’t want to miss his performance.
The DJ crafts an electro-house sound into his set and doesn’t show his face on stage. Instead he wears a giant mouse’s head which commonly lights up along with the rest of the props. It’s a sight to be seen.
Having released seven albums since 2005, the star has worked with a host of vocal talent including Rob Swire, Cypress Hill, Haley Gibby and many more.
He has picked up a fair few awards along the way too and has won a total of 11 out of the 24 trophies he has been nominated for including ‘Best Electro House Artist’ and ‘Best Progressive House Artist’.
In 2009, 2012 and 2013 the Canadian DJ had been nominated for a total of five GRAMMY Awards but failed to win any – that hasn’t stopped him though from doing what he loves.
If you can’t be in London tonight for the iTunes Festival 2014 then fear not, Apple have made it all available to stream online through iTunes and your iOS devices.
