Today marks the 26th day of the iTunes Festival which kicked off in London on the 1st of September and has featured some of the biggest names in music already.
In amongst the big stars, smaller, perhaps unknown acts have been given their chance to shine – and shine they have thanks to Apple and their free stream of the event around the world.
Tonight at the iTunes Festival American rock singer Lenny Kravitz will take to the stage with his retro style incorporating various musical genres.
Yet again, like many other nights this month, iTunes and Apple are welcoming yet another Grammy Award winning recording artist to London. From 1999 to 2002 Kravitz won the award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance and broke the record for most wins in that category.
Kravitz has also won a number of other awards around the world including a BRIT Award back in 1994 for International Male. It’s no surprise he was asked to perform this year.
After releasing nine studio albums Kravitz released his tenth ‘Strut’ earlier this week on the 23rd of September on his very own label Roxie Records.
We can’t help but wonder if the iTunes Festival will have an effect on where the album places in the UK Top 40. There’s a good chance that it might boost sales considerably.
The album is proving popular among fans so far and will no doubt be a hit throughout his set later tonight in London.
Ahead of Lenny Kravitz taking to the stage tonight, London based band Wolf Alice will take to the stage to showcase their alternative rock style to the world.
The four-piece released their debut single ‘Fluffy’ back in 2013 and released their second ‘Bros’ in May of the same year.
In October of 2013 Wolf Alice released their debut EP ‘Blush’ and a few months later their second ‘Creature Songs’ was released in May 2014.
Over the course of this weekend into next week music lovers will witness Kylie Minogue, Nicola Benedetti and Ed Sheeran headline the iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse in London.
Support for each act will come in the form of MNEK tomorrow night for Kylie with Milos & Alison Balsom for Nicola Benedetti while Foy Vance will support Ed Sheeran.
Finally, the 30th of September will see Placido Domingo close the iTunes Festival for 2014 in what’s set to be an incredible performance with support from Khatia Buniatishvili.
