Tonight’s the night. We’re on the second last performance of the 2014 iTunes Festival and while we’re slightly sad it’s almost over we really can’t wait for tonight.
Before Placido Domingo closes the festival tomorrow night it’s all about Ed Sheeran who will headline the stage at the Roundhouse in London.
All month we’ve brought you daily artist previews for each performance because there’s always that chance you might not be familiar with an act.
We all know the name Ed Sheeran though. He’s had an incredible amount of success over the past few years and his new album ‘X’ hasn’t disappointed fans.
The record may be his second release but so far it’s given him more fame than he ever thought he would get. Everyone wants to see him live, it seems.
Since it was released on the 23rd of June the album soared straight to the top of the Official Albums Chart here in the UK and remained there for a number of weeks.
In its first week on sale in the UK ‘X’ was purchased 180,000 times making it the fastest selling album of 2014 so far.
After remaining at the top of the Official Albums Chart for eight weeks, by August 2014 the singer had shifted 488,711 copies in the UK alone.
Sheeran also made his mark on the US chart with the Billboard 200, debuting at number one with sales of 210,000 copies giving him his first US number one.
His success shows no signs of slowing anytime soon and we already know that Ed is already preparing his next release and we hope it’s bigger than ‘X’.
Before the ‘Sing’ performer takes to the stage tonight, support will come from Irish musician Foy Vance who will warm up the crowd.
While you wait on Ed Sheeran taking to the stage at the Roundhouse tonight for his iTunes Festival performance check him out performing at Glastonbury below.
Who has been your highlight of the festival so far? We have our own but we’d love to hear from you. Has anyone stood out this month or have you enjoyed everyone?
