It seems like it has been no time at all since September and the iTunes Festival began and here we are in the final few days of what has been an outstanding month of music.

Already we’ve seen Pharrell Williams, 5 Seconds of Summer, Sam Smith, Robert Plant, Calvin Harris take to the stage and now, tonight fans will get the opportunity to watch Mary J. Blige live, and you’re in for a treat.

Mary J. Blige first popped onto the music scene back in 1989 as a background singer before she launched into her solo career and released her first album ‘What’s the 411?’ in 1992.

Since then the American singer-songwriter and producer has released twelve studio albums of her own and has made numerous guest appearances for other artists.

The Grammy award winning singer with nine awards under her belt out of a possible thirty nominations across the years.

Mary J. Blige’s 1994 album ‘My Life’ is often considered her greatest, though eight of her twelve albums have gone multi-platinum in the US.

Billboard have ranked Blige as the most successful female R&B artist of the past 25 years and throughout her career she has sold more than 50 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide.

‘The London Sessions’ will mark the thirteenth studio album Mary J. Blige has released and is due to be available in November this year.

The album was recorded in RAK studios in London and will feature ten new tracks worked on by UK acts including Emelie Sandé, Sam Smith, Naughty Boy and Disclosure.

The new tracks have all been co-written by Blige, and the first single ‘Therapy’ – co-written by Sam Smith – was made available to download on Tuesday (23rd September).

While Mary J. Blige will be the main act of the iTunes Festival tonight, Gorgon City will take to the stage beforehand to warm things up.

The English electro duo have already had two top ten hits in the UK in their short career and have seen their singles enter the Top 100 on various charts around the world.
