ITV announce Katherine Kelly tribute show, ‘Farewell Becky’
ITV have revealed that they are to air a special tribute to Corrie’s Katherine Kelly to celebrate her time on the Street as Becky McDonald.
Entitled, ‘Farewell Becky’ RTÉ report that the one-off show will air on ITV on January 24 at 7:30pm, and will look back at the Becky’s best moments.
Katherine of course announced last year that she intended to leave the show – she first appeared in 2006 – and has since taken on the role of Miss Hardcastle in She Stoops to Conquer, which will play at the National Theatre from 24th January.
ITV’s statement about the tribute show reads, “The character of Becky may have started out as a petty criminal, but she went on to steal the hearts of the nation.
“So, as viewers prepare to say farewell to one of the best-loved characters in British soap, we follow Becky’s journey from her first appearance in a police station, through her many triumphs and traumas – ending with her emotional send-off on the show…
“We hear how Katherine made the character of Becky her own after coming into the show in 2006, where the inspiration for those outlandish costumes come from – and fellow actors reveal all on how Katherine doesn’t hold back when it comes to the fight scenes or even the soap’s more intimate moments!”
It’s expected that Kat’s co-stars Kate Ford, Ryan Thomas, Simon Gregson and Paula Lane will be among the cast members who will pay tribute to Katherine and her character Becky.
I’m sure this clip will feature in the show too…
