ITV Consider Making Coronation Street Musical

The Sun has reported that ITV are currently considering making hit soap Coronation Street and chat show, Loose Women, into musicals.

After the runaway success of the stage adaptation of ITV drama, Bad Girls, the channel are now said to be looking a a number of shows which they could adapt for theatre.

Director of global content Dawn Airey said: “ITV have some powerful programme brands which don’t have to exist just on the telly.

“Musicals and plays have done good business for things like films so why not TV shows? Loose Women would be ideal. You can make money out of The Vagina Monologues, so what’s the difference?”
