ITV Insists That Heartbeat Is NOT Being Axed
We reported yesterday that ITV was axing long running police drama, Heartbeat along with its spinoff shows.
However the TV channel has insisted that whilst they are suspending production on the show, it is only to clear the backlog of unbroadcast episodes, and it has not been removed from future schedules.
An ITV spokesman told BBC: “Heartbeat and The Royal (the show’s spin-off medical drama) are an important part of the ITV schedule and are currently in production.”

Firstly I would like to speak on behalf of my family that if the rumours are correct that Heartbeat is to be axed I find this a terrible dissapointment and a very sad day that such a prominent programme that is family friendly is to be even considered for the axe.
I am sure I am speaking for many people in my comments and I am just hoping that the popular show will go on.
please do not axe heartbeat this is my favourite programme .I have watched every episode the programme is excellent , the acting is good, the stories are very good,and the wonderful north yorkshire scenery just makes the programme so real there is not another programme on any network to compare with it .
We live in Canada and watch ‘Heartbeat’ every Friday on one of our few non-commercial channels. We came from Yorkshire to Canada in 1970 and know the area of filming very well. Please don’t cancel ‘Heartbeat’
I am 73 years old and that makes me pretty unimportant in the eyes of TV programme planners.. I do not want to watch people tearing each other apart as on reality TV. When I put on my set I want to be taken away from everyday life and whirled into another pretend life. That entertains me. It is time that over 5 million viewers’ (note apostrophe) desires were taken into consideration. We are old but we are not senile and we may not be important now, but we were once! Regards J.Salt

Why the hell are they axing heartbeat!!! i am 16 years old and have watched the show for as long as i can remember..what else are they going to fill it with just more reality T.V rubbish

ITV are making a massive mistake
Yeah I personally think HEARTBEAT was a number 1 program for ITV1 as I first got into it from 1990s with my Step father Kevin who comes and goes as he really liked the first couple with Nick Berry in.
And I personally liked Nick Burry, Jason Durr, Mark Gordon, Philip Franks and Joe Mcfadden plus others like funny green grass times. And most Background scenes plus romance.
as long as dancing on ice is axed. heartbeat is ok programme but the programme as changed bring the past actors back get the programme back to the best why did they axe where the heart is thats better then heartbeat.
