ITV reveal who dies in tomorrow’s Downton Abbey finale?

It’s been reported today that ITV made a bit of a boob when they issued a press release announcing that Downton Abbey had been commissioned for a third series…

The mishap occurred when ITV listed the cast for series three, which, when compared to the cast list for series two, apparently had “one notable” name missing.

As you may know, in tomorrow night’s finale, we’re to see several members of the Crawley household – both upstairs and downstairs – falling ill with the Spanish flu in 1919.

Among them will be Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) and butler Carson (Jim Carter), however, as the cast list for series three seems to include these actors, they’re presumably safe. As are Maggie Smith as the Dowager Duchess, Hugh Bonneville as Lord Grantham, Joanne Froggatt as Anna, Rob James-Collier as Thomas and Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary…

Of the slip up, an ITV spokeswoman told Sky News, “The list of cast we’ve included in the Downton Abbey press release is representative of the actors returning next year.

“The list is ‘including the names mentioned’ but is by no means the full list.

“We advised … that it was speculative to draw conclusions about the climax to the storylines in Sunday’s episode as they would most likely be wrong.

“It is still a secret until the finale airs. We’re sure the final episode of this series of Downton Abbey will keep everyone gripped.”

So, do you have any idea who’s going to snuff it, or care to take a guess?

In the meantime, here’s the promo for tomorrow night’s series finale…
